Earlier this month at Auto China in Beijing BMW unveiled their i8 Concept Spyder. Beyond the futuristic look, the plug-in hybrid coupé has a pair of electric stand-on scooters underneath a glass panel in the rear. The dual-mode of transport is right on the money for largely populated cities like China, where a scooter might be more efficient to get around in the smaller streets and congested traffic areas.

Beijing Auto Show: With renderings of the second generation Chevrolet EN-V 2.0 (Electric Networked-Vehicle) concept General Motors showcased their vision of future of personal transportation which is a two-seat electric car that aimed to alleviate concerns about traffic congestion, parking availability, air quality and affordability for tomorrow’s cities.

In-vehicle climate control, personal storage space, and wireless communication enabling a “social network” that can be used by drivers and passengers to communicate with friends or business associates while on the go. The EN-V would be capable of driving in all weather and city road conditions, and prototype models are expected to be employed in pilot studies throughout China. Kevin Wale, president and managing director of the GM China Group, said:

We’re very excited about EN-V 2.0 concept, which embodies the essence of its predecessor but was evolved into a more practical design for real-life use. The combination of sensing technology, wireless communication and GPS-based navigation establishes a technology foundation, pieces of which could potentially lead the way to the creation of future advanced vehicle systems.

At the Beijing Motor Show, Victoria Beckham has finally unveiled her special edition Range Rover Evoque

Only 200 of these luxury four-seater coupés will be made, each with exclusive features like hand-finished matte paint, internal rose-gold accents, a baseball-like stitched leather interior, and thick mohair floor mats. There is also a hand-stitched owners manual with rose-gold detail signed by Victoria Beckham and an exclusive four-piece luggage set in hand-stitched black leather that comprises his and hers wheeled suitcases and wash bags. She said of the design:

It’s the small details that makes all the difference. I want everyone who gets into this car to feel special and empowered by its quality and craftsmanship. I like that it feels luxurious but also has quite a classic edge to it as well as a contemporary feel.

In China later this year, French car manufacturer Citroën will launch its DS line and will kickoff the occasion by the revealing the Numero 9 concept vehicle at this month’s Beijing Auto Show. The coupe features a plug-in hybrid drivetrain that offers a 31-mile electric range and 295 horsepower. Although it’s a powerful and fast car, its fuel consumption is impressively low at only 1.7 liters per 100 kilometers.

The Numero 9 combines the traditional aspects of the DS range with added sleek curves for a more modern design.
